A Family History of Gertrude (Gussie) Lagovsky and Louis Jaffe
Gertrude (Gussie) Lagovsky, daughter of Abraham Lagovsky and Libe Goodseit, was born in 1876 in Minsk Guberniya, Russia and died 12 Feb 1926 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey, at age 56, and was buried in the Gomel Chesed Cemetery in Newark, Essex, New Jersey.
Gertrude married Louis Jaffe, son of Israel Jaffe and Chise Domnitz, in Slutsk, Minsk Guberniya, Russia. Louis was born around 1870 in Minsk Guberniya, Russia and died 13 January 1935 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey and was buried in the Gomel Chesed Cemetery in Newark, Essex, New Jersey. After Gertrude's death Louis married Fannie Kaplan.
Gertrude and Louis had eight children:
Freda Jaffe was born around 1895 in Slutsk, Minsk Guberniya, Russia.
Frieda married David Epstein. They had two children:
Saul Epstein married Muriel and had two children: Sarah and Paula
Muriel Epstein was born 15 Oct 1920 in New Jersey and died in Aug 1977 in New Jersey. Muriel married Joe Rotgun, son of Abraham and Gussie Rotgun. Joe was born 1 May 1906 and died in April 1966 in New Jersey. They had one child:

Dora Jaffe was born 27 Nov 1902 in Slutsk, Minsk Guberniya, Russia and died 9 Jul 1982 in West Orange, Essex, New Jersey.
Dora married William Gordon 19 Sep 1920. William was born 15 Feb 1902 and died 8 Dec 1989 in New Jersey. They had two children: Geraldine and Lenore.
Geraldine (Gerry) Gordon was born 25 Oct, 1923 in New Jersey and died 18 April 2008 in West Orange, Essex, New Jersey.

Milton Jaffee (at some time Milton changed the spelling of his name from Jaffe to Jaffee) was born August 18, 1916 in Elizabeth, Essex, New Jersey and died in September 1974 in East Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey.
Milton married Adele Feinman in 1945. Adele was born in Apr 1920 in Irvington, Essex, New Jersey and died in Jan 2011 in East Brunswick, Middlesex, New Jersey. They had two children:

Gertrude (Gussie) Lagovsky Jaffe was born Gittlja Lagovsky in 1876 in the Russian town of Slutsk in the old Lithuanian province of Minsk in what was then known as the Pale of Settlement and now is called Belarus. Her parents were Abraham Lagovsky born in 1858 and Libe Goodseit born in 1859. She was the oldest child and five other siblings followed: a sister Chisha born in 1881, brothers Golulie born in 1885 and Max born in 1886, sisters Chaie born in 1891 and Esther born in 1893.
Gertrude married Louis Jaffe in Slutsk, Minsk Guberniya, Russia. Louis was born around 1870 in Minsk Guberniya, Russia. They had six children while still in Russia: Freda in 1895, Max in 1896, Dora in 1902, Sadie in 1907, Herman in 1909 and Rose in 1911. Two other children were born after they immigrated to America: Irving in 1914 and Milton in 1916.
In 1913 Gertrude immigrated to America on Kurtz with four of her children: Dora, Sadie, Herman and Rose. They joined her husband, Louis, and son, Max, who immigrated in 1911. The oldest daughter Freda also immigrated to America but at this time it is not known when.
In 1920 Gertrude was living in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Her husband Louis was running a bathhouse called the Russian Baths. On January 27, 1927 a newspaper article in the Trenton Times reported two men were found dead in the bathhouse (see article below).
Gertrude died 13 January 1935 in Elizabeth, Union, New Jersey and was buried in the Gomel Chesed Cemetery in Newark, Essex, New Jersey .
After her death Louis married Fannie Kaplan.
