Patrick Daly, the son of Peter Daly, married Jane Fahy, the daughter of Daniel Fahy, in 1830 in Claire County, Ireland. Patrick and Jane along with their four oldest children, Mary, Ellen, Daniel and Patrick, sailed to Australia in 1836 on the Lady McNaughten. The ship was put in quarantine upon arrival due to illness aboard. Daniel died while in quarantine from severe malnutrition and Patrick was sickly but recovered. The family settled in Maitland where their last four children, Anne, Margaret, John and Catherine were born.
