CHANDLER HEATH

BURIAL HERE
Chandler Heath, residing on the shores of Whitefish Lake, passed away at his home Wednesday of last week after an illness of several years duration. Up to a short time ago, he had continued active and always took an interest in home life. Four years ago he suffered an injury which necessitated an amputation of one limb, but nevertheless, was laying plans on what work he intended to take up in his garden this season. Heart failure was attributed as cause of death. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday afternoon, followed by services at the M.E. Church. Rev. D.C. Holst officiated. Burial was in Pine Ridge cemetery. Chandler Heath was born in Canada on June 26, 1856. He married Mary Burdick at Joliet, Ill., on Sept. 7, 1878. To this union seven children were born, two of whom proceeded their father in death. Beside the wife, he is leaves to mourn his death, three sons, Clarence, Roy, and Lee; and two daughters, Mrs. Ervin Lembke and Mrs. Clara Johnson, all of Pine River. He also leaves two nephews, Merle and Forrest Heath, both of Pine River; two brothers, Robert of Lansford, N.D., and Fernand of Round Lake; one sister, Rose Green, of Minooka, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Heath moved here from Round Lake in 1900 and made their home in the Whitefish area. Chandler Heath was not afraid but happy to die for he knew he was going to that region where pain and sorrow ends and only happiness reigns--to God. To that beautiful place full of joy and happiness--Heaven.

Mrs. Mary Heath, one of the oldest settlers in the Whitefish area passed away at the home of her son Sunday evening May18. Mrs. Heath was about 78 years old and leaves to mourn her passing three sons: Clarence Heath, Lee Heath, Roy Heath, and two daughters Mrs. Sadie Lembke, Mrs. Clara Johnson and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Ziebarth, at the Whitefish Tabernacle at two o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Arrangements were made by the Northern Funeral Home and the internment was in Pine River. Next week the Independent will publish the complete obituary of Mrs. Heath.

Funeral Services Held On Sunday for Robt. Heath
At School Auditorium With Rev. C. A. Kepler In Charge
Funeral services were held last Sunday for Robert Heath who passed away last Thursday morning at Trinity Hospital, Minot, after an illness of two weeks due to heart trouble. A short family service was conducted at the home after which services were held at the school auditorium with Rev. C. A. Kepler of the Methodist Church in charge. A trio consisting of D. McMurchy, Sam May, and Warren K McElwain sang. Burial was made in the cemetery west of town. The audience was filled to capacity with those who came to pay their last tribute of respect to a sincere friend and departed neighbor. Mr. Heath had resided at the farm home just south of town for the past nineteen years, having moved here with his family from Round Lake, Minn. Mr. Heath was well known throughout this territory, being a man who met the problems of life with a smile, and made a friend of every new acquaintance.
Robert Ernest Heath was born at Province, Quebec, Canada, March 9, 1867, being a little past 67 years of age. When six months old his parents moved to Illinois. Later he moved to Round Lake, Minn., where he resided until moving to Lansford in 1915. He was united in marriage to Amanda Johnson on Feb. 6, 1891, and to this union nine children were born: Henry and Glen of Rake Iowa; Mrs. Fred Holmes of Leeds, N.D.; Mrs. Albert Chambers and Melvin of Portland, Oregon; and Ernest, Earl, Leslie and Bobbie of Lansford, all of whom were here to attend the funeral. Besides his wife and children he leaves on brother, Fernando, of Round Lake, Minn.; one sister, Mrs. Rose Green of Minooka, Ill.; and thirteen grandchildren to mourn his departure.
Serving as pallbearers were J.L. Nesvig, T.A. Burke, Joe Holmes, Henry Knack, Leon Ewers and Ole Holmes.

ROBERT MAYNARD HEATH

Lansford - Robert M. Heath, 71, died Wednesday in a Minot hospital. His funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in United Methodist Church, Lansford, with burial in the Lansford Cemetery. He was born Jan. 22, 1917, near Lansford to Robert and Amanda Heath. He grew up in the area and graduated from Lansford High School in 1935. He married Lois Richardson Nov. 8, 1935, in Bottineau. They lived in Lansford and farmed near there until 1959. He also drove bus for the Lansford School for 19 years. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Hi-Neighbor Senior Citizen Club, the Lansford Bowling Association, serving as its league president for a number of years, and the Lansford Country Club. He was inducted into the Lansford Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986. Survivors: wife; daughter, Barbara Hedberg, Carpio; son, Myron, Wilsonville, Ore.; five grandchildren; brother, Melvin, Portland, Ore.; sister, Pearl Chambers, Portland, Ore. Visitation is today until 8:30 p.m. in the Anderson Mortuary, Mohall.

MELVIN LEONARD HEATH

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 9, 1995, in Bethany Lutheran Church, where he was a member. Mr. Heath died of lymphocytic leukemia May 5 at age 83. He was born Nov. 18, 1911, in Round Lake, Minn. He retired in 1974 as a salvage clerk for Union Pacific Railroad. Mr. Heath married Helen Berg Oct. 7, 1933; she died in 1991. Survivors are his sons, Roland J. of Lincoln City, Dennis L. of Salem and Curtis L. of Troutdale; sister, Pearl Chambers of Portland; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interment in Rose City Mausoleum. Remembrances: the church memorial fund. Arrangements: Hustad Funeral Home.

A memorial service for Helen Christine Heath, a Northeast Portland resident who had worked as a beautician out of her home for many years, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Bethany Lutheran Church. Private entombment will be in Rose City Mausoleum. She died of causes related to age Tuesday in a Portland care center. Mrs. Heath was 79. She was born May 6, 1912, in Milton, N.D. Her maiden name was Berg. She married Melvin L. Heath on Oct. 7, 1933, in Glenburn, N.D., and moved to Portland that same year. Mrs. Heath was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church and had served as church organist for a number of years. Survivors besides her husband include her sons, Roland J. of Cloverdale, Dennis L. of Salem and Curtis L. of Troutdale; brothers, Harris Berg of Salem and Maynard Berg of Portland; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The family suggests remembrances be contributions to Bethany Lutheran Church.
