These five brothers were the sons of Abraham Van Deursen, a resident of Deursen, a small village in North Brabant, Netherlands, and a member of an old Dutch family.

Johannes Rohrbach immigrated to America from the Palatine area of Germany during what is known as the Palatine Immigration of 1709-1710. His wife died during the voyage and he and his children settled in West Camp, New York.
