1-Caroline Dorothea Fisher, daughter of Jacob Ferdinand Fischer and Dorothea (Dorothea Auguste Elizabeth) Grabenhorst, was born on 2 Feb 1858 in Dayton, Webster, Iowa, died on 7 Jul 1936 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois at age 78, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. 

Caroline married John Jacob Holzinger, son of Johann Georg Holzinger and Elizabeth Vetter, on 19 Jun 1876 in Hooppole, Henry, Illinois. John was born on 23 Jul 1845 in Broggingen, Baden, Germany, died on 5 Sep 1926 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois at age 81, and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery. They had six children: Minnie, William Henry, Wesley Franklin, Harrison Elmer, Alice Edith, and Herald Lowell.

2-Minnie Maria Holzinger was born on 7 Jan 1880 in Thayer County, Nebraska, died 2 Sept 1965 in Henry County, Illinois and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery.

Minnie married Martin Wolf, son of John Wolf and Catherine Holzinger, on 6 Oct 1899 in Scott County, Iowa. They separated on 10 June 1922 and Minnie was officially granted a divorce on 27 Feb 1934 on the grounds of desertion. Martin was born on 27 May 1870 in Henry County, Illinois and died on 17 Nov 1963 in Henry County, Illinois.  They had four children: Pearl, Blanche, Elsie and Ora.

Minnie next married Alden Smith, son of Andrew Smith and Mary Arnett, on 10 April 1937 in Aurora, Kane, Illinois. Alden was born on 14 Sept 1880 In Henry County, Illinois and died on 6 March 1970. They had no children.

2-William Henry Holzinger was born on 26 May 1882 in Henry County, Illinois and died on 23 May 1965 in Wilkin County, Minnesota at age 82. 

William married Carolyn Mae Luther, daughter of David Luther and Caroline Hemmelman, on 26 Jun 1907 in Henry County, Illinois. Carolyn was born on 11 Apr 1890 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois and died on 27 Dec 1972 in Wilkin County, Minnesota at age 82. They had three children: Margaret, Oneida Lois, and Billy Gordon.

2-Wesley Franklin Holzinger was born on 26 Jan 1885 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois and died on 9 Sep 1943 in Limon, Lincoln, Colorado at age 58. 

Wesley married Nellie Marie Zelstad on 10 Jun 1911 in Denver, Denver, Colorado. Nellie was born in 1890 in Norway. They had one son: Gerald Floyd (Jerry).

2-Harrison Elmer Holzinger was born on 6 Nov 1888 in Henry County, Illinois, died on 27 Apr 1975 in Henry County, Illinois at age 86, and was buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Illinois. 

Harrison married Laura E Dean, daughter of J Sedgwick Dean and Gertrude Schmitz, in 1925 in Henry County, Illinois.. Laura was born on 5 Jan 1900 in Illinois, died on 18 Jun 1969 in Henry County, Illinois at age 69, and was buried in Rock Island National Cemetery, Illinois. They had no children.

2-Alice Edith Holzinger was born on 11 Apr 1891 in Henry County, Illinois and died on 9 Nov 1984 in Butte County, California at age 93. 

Alice married Charles Francis Kinkuski, son of Paul Kinkuski and Alberta Newyear, on 18 Jun 1914 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois. Charles was born on 7 Aug 1885 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and died on 15 Oct 1987 in Paradise, Butte, California at age 102. They had one son: Ronald Wilmer.

2-Herald Lowell Holzinger was born on 17 Sep 1894 in Geneseo, Henry, Illinois and died on 6 Jan 1962 in Park Forest, Cook, Illinois.

Herald married Lillian B Jones, daughter of David Llewellyn Jones and Mary Elizabeth Burton,  on 24 Apr 1920 in Cook County, Illinois. Lillian was born on 28 Mar 1891 in Ohio and died in Jun 1978 in Cook County, Illinois at age 87. They had two children: Robert D and John (Jack).

Biography

Caroline Dorothea Fischer was born February 23, 1858 at Dayton, Iowa to Jacob and Dorothea Grabenhorst Fischer.  Caroline’s father died in 1868.  Her mother married Barnhart Wolf in 1871 and she moved with her family to Yorktown Township, Henry County, Illinois and lived on a farm west of Hooppole, Illinois. 

She was married to John Jacob Holzinger, son of Johann Georg Holzinger and Elizabeth Vetter on June 19, 1876 in Hooppole.  John was born on July 23, 1845 in Germany and died on September 5, 1926 in Geneseo, Illinois.  Caroline died July 7, 1936 at the age of 78 in Geneseo.  They lived in Geneseo most of their married life. John was a harness maker by trade.  John and Caroline are buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Geneseo. They had six children:  Minnie, William, Wesley, Harrison, Alice and Harold.   One daughter died in infancy.

J. J. Holzinger was born in Broggingen, Germany, the son of Johann Georg and Elizabeth Vetter Holzinger. He came with his parents, 5 siblings and a half-brother to the U. S. in 1852, living first in Naperville, IL and then moving to near Hooppole, IL. After his marriage to Caroline Fisher in 1876, he moved to Edford Township in Henry County, IL and later to Kansas and Nebraska. He and his family returned to Illinois in 1880, where he farmed for many years. He and his wife later bought a home in Geneseo, IL. He was the father of 7 children, Minnie Wolf Smith, William, Wesley, Harrison, Alice and Harold. One child was stillborn in Kansas

Caroline Holzinger, Aged 78 Years, Dies After A Long Illness
Mrs. Caroline Holzinger, aged 78 years, resident of this community most of her life, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 1936, at her home, 411 North Aldrich street. She had been ill three and on- half years of arthritis. Death was due to complications. Caroline Dorothy Fischer was born Feb. 23, 1858 at Dayton, Iowa, and came to Illinois when a young girl and has lived here ever since with the exception of two years spent in Kansas and Nebraska. On June 19, 1876 she was married to John J. Holzinger at Hooppole. Mr. Holzinger passed away Sept. 5,1926 . Mrs. Holzinger was a member of Grace Evangelical church, being faithful in attendance as long as her health permitted. She was a great lover of flowers and made a practice of delivering bouquets in person to the aged and shut-ins. Her affable disposition won for her a host of friends. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Lauretta Murphy of Riverton, Wyoming; two half-sisters, Mrs. Lavina Seyller of Hooppole and Mrs. Margaret Wolever of Chicago; one half-brother, Benjamin Wolf of Hooppole; two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Wolf of Geneseo, Mrs. Alice Kinkuski of Marengo, Ill., four sons, William Holzinger of Tintah, Minn., Wesley Holzinger of Liman, Col., Harrison Holzinger of Viola, Ill., and Harold Holzinger of Chicago, Ill., ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

John Jacob Holzinger Dies In Home; Funeral to be Wednesday
Geneseo, Sept. 6 - John Jacob Holzinger, pioneer resident of Geneseo, died yesterday at his home in Geneseo, aged 81 years. Mr. Holzinger was born in Broggingen, Baden, Germany, July 23, 1845. He came to this county in 1855 living in Naperville until 1855, since which time he has been a resident of Henry county. He was married to Caroline Fischer June 19, 1876, and the pioneer couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary here on June 19 last. Surviving besides the widow, are four sons and two daughters, a son having died in infancy. Surviving sons are William H., Tenny, Minn.; Wesley F., Limon, Colorado; Harrison F., Moline; Harold L., Chicago; the daughters are Mrs. Minnie Wolf, Davenport; Mrs. Alice Kinkuski, Rockford. Two sisters survive: Mrs. Catherine Wolfe, Hooppole, and Mrs. Magdalena Ernst, Geneseo. There are eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral will be held from the home Wednesday at 2, Rev. F.A. Hoerner of Grace Lutheran church officiating, and burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
