These album pages were made by my grandmother, Catherine Maxwell (Violet Thomas), in 1971 from a packet of photos she received from New Zealand after her mother's death. She had not seen these family members for many years when she made up the albums and some of the photos are labeled incorrectly.

Catherine Thomas McLean was the third daughter not the first and Margaret Thomas Hatch was the oldest daughter not the third. Rose was indeed the fourth daughter but her last name was never Lindsay as she did not marry or have children. Daphne Lindsay has been researched and is no relation.

The photo labeled Roddie McLean is in uniform and Roderick did not serve in the armed forces so based on the uniform the photo is probably Ernest Reginald McLean or James Duncan McLean.

Dame Mary Gilmore is not a relative but an Australian writer and poet who was a close friend of my grandmother.
