| With Dennis gone no one really felt like a big Christmas celebration so we decided to have a quiet family brunch and exchange gifts. Jack said to heck with quiet and had a great time playing with everyone. His antics did help make things more cheery and bright and he was definitely the star of the day! |

Heath Gets His eagle High School Letter In Swimming!
| This year Heath was on the swim team for Eagle High. At the December 14 award ceremony he was awarded his school letter as well as an award for most improved swimmer. He is now swimming for a YMCA club team as well as life guarding and teaching swim lessons. |

Aden Has Open Heart Surgery
|
The surgery was needed to repair his mitral valve. It was successful and he was discharged on November 16 to recuperate at Stephany's house and then at home. Unfortunately his heart went into Atrial Flutter after surgery. This irregular fast heartbeat is not uncommon after heart surgery but when it didn't resolve after several weeks he had an Electrical Cardioversion treatment on November 20 where his heart was shocked back into rhythm. Unfortunately his heart did not stay in rhythm and he is currently being treated by medication and blood thinners to see if it resolves itself. If not he may need to have another Cardioversion treatment. His next appointment is in January. |

Dennis Leroy Heath
August 6, 1940 - October 5, 2022

Dennis died suddenly and unexpectedly on October 5, 2022. He had taken our new puppy out for his last potty break about 9:30 PM. I was back in our bedroom, I heard him come in and then I heard him crash down. By the time I got to him he was gone. The paramedics came and pronounced him dead due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. I was devastated. We were all devastated. It is hard to believe we will never see him again. |

This is the last picture we have of Dennis. We had driven to Eagle, Idaho to pick up the new mini golden doodle puppy Devon had found for us. I was not totally convinced we should get him but Dennis fell in love with him and said he thought we needed him in our life so we brought him home on October 3. We called him Jack. Two days later Dennis was gone. He was right that we needed Jack. He has been such a comfort as we grieve during these dark times. |

Jack is a miniature golden doodle from Sophie's
Goldendoodles in Eagle, Idaho. Jack was born on June 11, 2022 and we
brought him home when he was 16 weeks old. When we picked Jack up the breeder Cyndi said she thought Jack had a litter brother in Salem. It turned out he did and he and Ringo are not only brothers but best friends! They get together to play five or six days a week. Update:

Goodbye Sweet Lulu

| Dennis and Stephany were driving to
Eagle to pick up Jack when they learned the Lulu was dying. Lulu had
been part of the family for over ten years and they drove the trip
quickly so they could be there for her passing. In Devon's words: "We had to say goodbye to our beautiful Lulu last night. Our hearts are broken. Thankfully her passing was peaceful and she was surrounded by all of us who loved her so much. She felt the love until her last breath. She lived a good life and she knew she was loved. We adopted her 10 years ago when she was 3 years old, from the Humane Society in Omaha, Nebraska. We’ve been on many adventures since. She was the most AMAZING walking partner. I will miss her dearly on our walks. I’ve never met a dog that was a better walking partner. Love you to the moon and back Lulu and grateful that you have been reunited with Bruiser and Newman in Heaven. Goodbye for now our sweet Lulu Belle." |

Dennis' brother Rollie died on September 19, 2022.
Dennis conducted his funeral service on September 23 at Lincoln Memorial
Cemetery in Portland.
He was buried next to his wife Mary who died in a car accident in 1970.
We will definitely miss Rollie's big smile and great laugh

Camping at Tugman
| This year Brooks flew in from Idaho to join Pa, Gram, Ellery and Sydney for the camping trip to Tugman State Park. Heath was working as a lifeguard so couldn't make the trip. Gram had rented a yurt for the teen-agers so everybody had enough space. We didn't know at the time but this would end up being Pa's last camping trip. |

Record breaking April snow storms
hit Salem and Portland this week. The snow didn't last long but it was cold!
